He noted that,as part of efforts by his government to improve and uphold the dignity of civil servants he has abolished casual workers by incorporating over 3000 casual workers across the state into permanent and pensionable staff.

In the heath sector, he said that,he has agreed to close the salary gap between state , doctors, nurses and other health practitioners to immediately half exodus to the federal medical centre over poor renumeration ‘ we will no longer allow our experienced doctors and nurses to cross over to the tertiary health facility, we will improve their pay to march their counterparts he said “.

On the new minimum wage, the governor, said a committee comprising the organised labour and the head of service will work out a sustainable minimum wage for Kebbi workers ” i dont want to start making hasty pronouncements but i assure you what the committee would come up with what is good and sustainable because welfare of workers is our priority which we are demonstrating in prompt payment of salaries with or without federal allocation ”

As a former teacher and unionist he said he knew the problem of people of Kebbi state and doing exactly what he suppose to do to bring development to the state in terms of infrastructure, education and security.

Earlier, Kebbi state Chairman of Nigeria labour congress,Comrade Murtala Usman thanked the governor for paying leave grants and gratuities to retired civil servants.

He requested the governor to make good his pledge of being the first governor to pay the new minimum wage after the federal government announcement.

At occasion, NLC s hall of famers and president of NLC Joe Ajero,Dr Idris were confered with awards of excellence for dogged unionism.
