.Uche Ogah

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Abia, Chief Joshua Ogbonna, has declared that nobody can become the governor of the state without the support or input of the former governorship candidate, Uche Ogah.

Ogbonna

Ogbonna, who is the Director, Media and Publicity, Abia Rejoice Movement, said this in an interview with newsmen in Umuahia.

He described Ogah’s purported suspension from APC over his recent public endorsement of Gov. Alex Otti for second term in 2027, as a nullity.

Recall that the party had during its recent emergency meeting, reaffirmed the suspension of the former Minister of State for Minerals and Steel Development, for alleged anti-party activities.

It stated that Ogah had remained suspended since 2022, in line with its constitution, following actions considered to be against the party’s interest.

However, Ogbonna insisted that the suspension was “dead on arrival, done out of malice, done out of greed, done by people who never contributed anything to the growth of the party.”

He continued : “Ogah is the man that controls APC in Abia.

“Whoever wants to be governor in Abia, I want you to take it to the bank, without Ogah’s support, cannot get it.

“Otti couldn’t get it without Ogah’s support in 2023.”

Ogbonna lauded Otti for his transformative leadership in the state and emphasised that the Abia Rejoice Movement which was founded by Ogah, has no regret for supporting the governor.

“If Otti derails today, he will definitely lose our support, but if he keeps the flag flying, I tell you, Ogah has another announcement to make,” he said.

Ogbonna, who insisted that he remained a strong member of APC, claimed that the ruling Labour Party (LP) has no structure in the state and is therefore not a party to beat.

He said that it was not LP that produced Otti as governor in 2023, rather the will of the people who were tired of bad governance, coupled with Ogah’s support.
