The Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps’ (NSCDC) Commandant General’s Special Intelligence Squad has arrested 70 suspects involved in kidnapping, rape, logistics supplies, and other criminal activities in the Okpella area of Edo State. The suspects were arrested during a clearance operation led by Commandant AS Dandaura, in collaboration with the Nigerian Army and BUA International Cement.

This was contained in a press release from CSC Babawale Afolabi the Public Relations Officer NSCDC Headquarter Abuja on Wednesday.

During the operation, the team rescued Mrs. Agbe Matar, who had been held captive for over seven days. Mrs. Matar narrated how she and her sister-in-law were kidnapped by armed men while working on their farmland. The kidnappers had demanded a N30 million ransom.

The NSCDC Commandant General, Prof. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has directed an aggressive onslaught against unscrupulous elements terrorizing Edo State. The CG’s Special Intelligence Squad has been working tirelessly to combat crime and ensure the protection of lives and property.

The paramount ruler of Itsukwi Kingdom, His Royal Highness Usman Suleiman, has lauded the NSCDC’s efforts in bringing peace and hope to the area. The NSCDC remains committed to collaborative efforts in dismantling kidnap syndicates and other criminal groups. Further investigation and diligent prosecution will be carried out in due course.
