He maintained that no nation developed without human capacity, hence the need for constant training and retraining of staff in accordance with the extant law

The executive secretary noted that
President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda in repositioning the civil service was to transform it through the performance management system

“As we navigate the changing dynamics of public service, marked by the Federal Government’s approval of the PMS to replace the longstanding Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER) format, we recognise the critical role that an effective Performance Management System plays in achieving organizational excellence.

“This transition underscores the need to foster a culture of transparency, measurable outcomes, and continuous improvement.

“While the PMS proactively manages an employee’s performance. aligning it with organizational goals, vision, mission, and core values, the APER primarily offered a retrospective evaluation of employee performance over the year.

“The shift to PMS represents a forward- looking approach, ensuring that every individual contributes meaningfully to the organisation’s success,” he said.

No fewer than 200 staff attended the workshop.
