Ohaneze lauds Lagos NUJ on commitment to Nigeria’s unity

The Lagos State chapter of Ohaneze Ndigbo, has lauded the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Lagos state on its commitment to strengthen the social cultural relationship and mutual coexistence, peace and unity amongst various ethnic groups in Nigeria.


The commendation was made at the recently held maiden NUJ Lagos cultural day event, as part of activities lined up for the 2023 Press week, with a call for sustenance of the laudable developmental and more unifying initiative.

In his address, President Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos state, Chief Sunday Ossai, who led other dignitaries, including Eze Uche Dimgba (Okpotemba) Eze Ndigbo of lkeja , Eze Anthony Anosike, Eze Ndigbo Onigbongbo, Chief Oliver Akubueze (Mmiri), Chief Anslem Njoku, Akaweje of Alausa, Ikeja amongst others, at LTV 8 Lagos ground, praised the foresight of the NUJ Lagos led by Mr. Adeleye Ajayi, for conceptualizing a unifying celebration such as cultural day as one of the events on its yearly widely celebrated NUJ week.

Chief Ossai, said that the NUJ Cultural day falls in line with the Igbo spirit of mutual cooperation and relationship in building a better and more formidable Nigeria, a trend which he maintained the Ohaneze and Ndigbo in general reflect across the country.

“This event is a wonderful one that should be sustained in building a united, indivisible Nigeria. We thank the Lagos NUJ for this event and we at the Ohaneze Lagos will always give our support to this, and every effort geared towards building sustainable peace, progress, and strengthening economic growth of the country”

The NUJ Cultural day, featured celebration of different cultures across the country, including Ohaneze Ndigbo, Odua, Akwa-Cross, Edo-Delta groups made revealing presentations with great display of their respective cultural dances, fashion, tradition, greetings, variants of foods, drinks, languages and other unique values that stood every group out.

People diverse culture in attendance were treated to the rich assemblage of Nigerian indigenous foods, such as Amala, Ugba, Nkwu enu, amongst others with relish in an ambiance laced with various cultural dances and glittering attires.

Earlier in her address, the convener, Ohaneze Group at NUJ Lagos, Dr Chinyere Amaechi, said that Igbo Journalists under the umbrella of Lagos State Council will not be found wanting in the progressive contributions of the Adeleye led NUJ Lagos state.

She assured of the group contributions to good governance and developmental initiatives of the state governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

She also said that such commitments to good initiatives gave rise to early buying in, by the Ohaneze NUJ into the cultural day event geared towards promotion of peace, unity, progress in he country and Lagos state driven by diverse ethnic groups in the state.
