The Senator representing Anambra Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Victor Umeh, OFR, (Ohamadike Ndigbo) has received pass mark from stakeholders following his scorecard in his first year as a member of the 10th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The stakeholders who spoke to Timesreporters Online in separate chat described Umeh’s performance in the last twelve months as outstanding by all standards.
Speaking in his assessment of Umeh’s scorecard, a Chieftain of Labour Party and the National Coordinators of Association of Concerned Non Indigenes (ACNI) Hon Ibuchim Kontact Ezekwelu pointed out that Senator Umeh is very sensitive to the plight of his immediate constituents of Anambra Central, plight of Ndigbo and Nigerians at large hence his vibrant representation with conversant participation in the affairs of the Senate both on the floor and in oversight.
Hon Ezekwelu who has served in various capacities in Anambra State as ex Commissioner Member 5 Local Government Service Commission, ex Commissioner 1 Post Primary School Service Commission and ex Chairman Government Land Recovery added that Umeh is doing well because he went back to the Senate well prepared to continue where he stopped from his first sojourn that lasted for Seventeen months is 8th Senate.
He continued “ACNI as a group was sure that Ohamadike is going to do well in the Senate and that was why we voted for him. I assured him prior to the election that the structure of ACNI in the Seven Local Governments Area in Anambra State is for him and that was exactly what we did at the polling booths. As the leader of ACNI and on behalf of ACNI I want to assure him that we are happy with his performance most particularly with his quick intervention to protect the property of Ndigbo from being demolished and let him keep it up”
Also speaking a Chieftain of Labour Party who was also a member of the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council in 2023 Presidential election, Prince Austin Onyekaba observed that the former National Chairman of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Diaspora Nigerians has become a Pride of Anambra State, Pride of Southeast and Pride of Legislation in Nigeria at large with his yeoman performance in the Senate
Prince Onyekaba alias Otumba went further to observe that Ohamadike’s one year scorecard has changed narratives and rekindled hope in good and effective political representation by legislators at Abuja among the people noting that people now look up to Legislation in National Assembly as an avenue to deliver dividend of democracy and for finding solution to the challenges facing Nigerians at all levels following Umeh’s performance.
He added “what I am saying is that Ohamadike’s scorecard has changed the narratives, our experience and has shown us that Legislation is a tool for good and effective political representation at a Abuja, a tool for good governance, an avenue to attract dividend of democracy, means of intervention to protect citizens’ property and for finding solution to teething challenges confronting Nigerians at all levels”
Also in his short comment former Director General of Onitsha Chamber of Commerce, Industries Mines & Agriculture (ONICCIMA) Mr Dominic Ajibo added “I commend Distinguished Senator for decisive intervention. How I wish that similar alacrity would be applied towards addressing the myriad of challenges of injustices and contradictions that are hurting this country badly over the years”
