PAACA inaugurates nationwide radio programme to promote electoral reform

Peering Advocacy and Advancement Centre in Africa (PAACA),has inaugurated a radio programme tagged “Electoral Reform Hour” to promote electoral reform across Nigeria.

The Executive Director of PAACA,Ezenwa Nwagwu, in a statement, said the radio programme was supported by the MacArthur Foundation.

Nwagwu said the Electoral Reform Hour was aimed at fostering inclusive dialogue among citizens from various background concerning electoral reform and constitutional amendment.

He said that it was also aimed at enhancing public understanding and awareness regarding electoral reform.

According to him, the programme will as well compile and present citizen-derived recommendations ahead of future elections in Nigeria.

“#ElectoralReformHour will air every Sunday from 7:30pm to 8:30pm on Kapital FM 92.9 Abuja, and all FRCN stations nationwide.

“The programme will feature stakeholders from the Election Management bodies, State and National Assembly, Civil society, Nigeria Bar Association, Nigeria Political Science Association and many others.

“The maiden edition of the radio program will be aired on the 9th of June 2024 with Professor Mahmood Yakubu Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) as a guest.

“The program’s wide reach ensures that citizens across Nigeria will have access to crucial information about the ongoing electoral reform in the country.”

Nwagwu encouraged listeners to call in, share their experiences, and ask questions during the program.

PAACA works to promote and strengthen citizens’ engagement with government institutions.

PAACA programs are targeted at increasing social accountability movement, Youth and Gender inclusiveness, support and promoting electoral reforms, legislative engagement, and advancing anti-corruption campaigns.
