The Kogi State Police Command, on Thursday, arrested one Goodness Oshodi for allegedly burying his younger brother, Friday Oshodi, alive for stealing N10,000 belonging to their mother.

The incident reportedly occurred at Apamisede community near Army Barracks, Adavi Local Government Area on the outskirts of Lokoja, Kogi State.

The boy was, however, lucky as a good Samaritan exhumed him and saved his life.

According to an eyewitness who preferred anonymity, the mother of the boy directed her eldest son, Goodness Oshodi to punish Friday for stealing N10,000. The elder brother in executing the directive of his mother decided to bury Friday alive until a good Samaritan neighbour came to his rescue.

Speaking further, the eyewitness disclosed that when he was asked why he decided to bury his brother alive, Goodness said that he was only carrying out the instructions of their mother who asked him to punish his brother for stealing her N10,000.

The eyewitness stated further that when Goodness was asked about the whereabouts of their mother, he said their mother was away at church.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP William Aya, who confirmed the incident said that the boy has been arrested and undergoing interrogation.

“Yes, we are aware. The boy (Goodness) has been arrested. Investigation is ongoing as to why and how such a thing could happen,” Aya said.

According to him, Goodness went and dug a pit, and buried his brother alive. However, Friday was rescued by neighbours while the suspect, Goodness has been taken into custody.
