Various Ijaw stakeholders from the Kalabari Kingdom have prepared a grand reception for the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja and immediate past Governor of Rivers State, Chief Nyesom Ezenwo Wike.

The Ijaw stakeholders under the auspices of the NEW Associates were said to be mobilizing to shut down Asari-Toru Local Government Area during the reception scheduled for March 15, 2025.

The Publicity Committee Chairman, Dr. Enemi Alabo George, said in Port Harcourt on Thursday that chiefs, leaders, women and youths were excited that Wike, a friend of the kingdom, was visiting Kalabari land.

George said the event was arranged at Abalama Town as a thanksgiving service and a grand civic reception in honour of the former governor for his love for the Kalabari Kingdom.

“All stakeholders in Kalabari are eagerly waiting to receive the FCT Minister and to show him gratitude. March 15 has been set aside to celebrate Chief Nyesom Wike for his love for the Kalabari Kingdom and its people.

“He has done much for the kingdom and he deserves to be celebrated. We are calling on our chiefs, leaders, women, youths and stakeholders of the Kalabari kingdom to make that day special”, he said.
