Senate approves N24.7b airport refund for Kebbi, Nasarawa states

The Senate of the federal republic of Nigeria has approved the sum of N24. 679, 987,811 billion Naira for Kebbi State and Nasarawa state governments being promissory notes by the federal government on work executed by the two states governments on Kebbi Airport and Nasarawa state Cargo Airport respectively, according to a press release from Joseph Omenka, the SA Media to the Chairman, Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debts, Senator Aliyu M. Wamakko on Tuesday.

The approval of the sum was via the Senator Aliyu Wamakko led Senate Committee on Local and Foreign Debt at its sitting on 23 July, 2024 at the National Assembly following a request to federal government by the two states governments.

The chairman of the Committee, H.E Senator Aliyu M. Wamakko representing Sokoto North who chaired the meeting moved for the approval of the sum while the Vice chairman of the Committee Senator Manu Haruna representing Taraba Central and Senator Yahaya Abdullahi representing Kebbi North and other members of the committee at the meeting unanimously concurred.

The breakdown of the amount showed N15. 137,336, 095 billion Naira for Kebbi state and N9.542, 651,786, 114 billion Naira for Nasarawa state Cargo Airport.
