The Senate has passed the supplementary budget of N2 trillion for the third reading.

This came just as Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was sworn in as the senator representing Kogi central.

The upper legislative chamber passed the supplementary appropriation after Solomon Olamilekan, chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, presented a report on Thursday.

While presenting his report, Olamilekan said there was a need for the country to take advantage of the coming dry season to implement some projects including road construction, hence the need for the budget to pass speedily.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio directed the clerk of the senate to administer the oath on her on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Thursday.

The court of appeal two days ago affirmed Akpoti-Uduaghan as winner of the Kogi central senatorial district election.
