Air Peace is further bridging the connectivity gap in West Africa with the commencement of direct flight from its base at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos to Lome in Togo.
The airline had in March last year, launched the Lagos-Niamey, Niger Republic route with a promise to expand its horizon within the West African routes and the entire country.
At the launch of the Lome route on Friday, Capt. Godfrey Ogbogu, Safety Manager, Air Peace expressed delight with the Togo route, stressing that this made it the eighth regional route in less than nine years since inception of operations.
Ogbogu explained that the two countries; Togo and Nigeria currently had strong socio-economic ties, adding that both had collaborated on significant fronts.
He insisted that the launch of flights into Lome had further given credence to these ties, assuring that it would foster commercial cooperation as well as deepen bilateral ties between the two countries.
He added: “Nigerians come to Togo for business and other purposes and the launch of this connectivity adds fillip to this economic exchange between both countries and also advances development. We’re reputed for our no-city-left-behind initiative and this is not just for domestic operations.
“Our no-city-left-behind drive extends to the West Coast, as we’re poised to continually interconnect key cities in the sub-region, making it easy for Africans to maximise the payoffs of air travel for the collective development of all the nations.”
Ogbogu lauded the Togolese authorities, its partners the Nigerian Government for making the launch of the new route possible and promised that the airline would work jointly with all the relevant aviation stakeholders to ensure the new route produces the desired outcomes.
Ogbogu emphasised that plans were also underway to launch flights into several other countries within the region, including Cotonou in Benin Republic, Abidjan in Cote d’Ivoire, Congo Kinshasa and Malabo in Equatorial Guinea.
He assured that before the end of 2023, some of these routes would have been launched, maintaining that Air Peace would continue to provide best-in-class flight services, driven by a customer-first orientation and hinged on strict adherence to established safety standards.
Apart from this, the airline explained that it was also modernising and increasing its fleet of aircraft, especially with the brand new Embraer 195-E2 aircraft, to continue to give its clients quality experience on board, whether domestic, regional or international.
He pointed out that the airline currently boasts of 20 domestic routes, eight regional and five international destinations, including Israel, India and China, while plans were in the offing to launch Houston-USA and London routes.
