The built environment community recently converged for the highly
anticipated Celebrities & The Built Environment (CBE) 2026 event, a unique gathering designed to honor the unsung heroes who shape the physical world.
Far from construction sites and drawing boards, professionals from various disciplines stepped onto the red carpet to be celebrated for their invaluable contributions.
In his welcoming address, Akinfenwa Mobolaji D. emphasized the event’s core purpose: to recognize the architects, engineers, builders, surveyors, quantity surveyors, and estate valuers who are the backbone of national development.
“Tonight is about you. The professionals who design, build, measure, plan, and shape our world,” he stated, highlighting the shift from site boots to elegance, excellence, and pride.
Mobolaji also touched upon critical industry conversations, including the rise of Artificial Intelligence and its impact on adaptation, the persistent challenge of quackery and maintaining standards, and the ongoing quest for public understanding of professional identity.
These shared realities underscore the need for a unified voice, which CBE 2026 aims to foster through media, advocacy, and collaboration.
Initiatives like The Chronicles of Construction (TCoC) Monthly Journal and Construction Launchpad were presented as key platforms for documenting industry activities, projects, and achievements, fostering industry memory, and bringing professional voices together.
Adding to the significance of the evening, Arc. Mobolaji Adeniyi, FNIA, IPPNIA, the CBE 2026 Matron, delivered inspiring opening remarks.
She traced the event’s origins from Archibuilt, an initiative of the Nigerian Institute of Architects, to its current status as a widely recognized industry platform.
Adeniyi expressed delight in witnessing the transformation of CBE into a truly multi-disciplinary platform, aligning with her vision for “Total Integration with allied Professionals” during her tenure as the 30th President of the Nigerian Institute of Architects.
“CBE stands today as a platform to celebrate, connect, and give visibility to the professionals who shape our built environment—those whose work defines how we live, work, and interact as a society,” Arc. Adeniyi remarked.
She underscored the importance of collaboration and a shared vision for the future of the industry, especially with the presence of top govt representatives, industry leaders, and professional bodies at this landmark 2026 edition.
The event served as a powerful reminder that the growth of the built environment ecosystem is intrinsically linked to the growth and recognition of its professionals.
Attendees were encouraged to relax, laugh, connect, and celebrate, reinforcing the message that their collective efforts are indispensable to society.
The call to stay connected with The Chronicles of Construction reiterated, emphasizing the power of shared storytelling to elevate the industry’s narrative.
Indeed, without these professionals, there is no built environment, and without the built environment, there is no society.
