Dr. Aime, a pastor of the Living Faith Church and a lecturer at the Akawe Torkula Polytechnic Makurdi in Benue State, was violently assaulted and beaten to a pulp by an enraged mob after a false alarm of alleged genital theft.

Dr Aime was reportedly preaching at a gospel outreach in Makurdi’s Wurukum region on Wednesday, but trouble began when he laid hands on a young man to pray for him.

According to reports, the young man raised an alert after his genitals vanished.

According to sources, Okada riders collected the preacher and nearly lynched him before the arrival of military and police officers who rescued him.

Pastor Aime and the purported genital theft victim were subsequently transported to the E Divisional Police in Makurdi, where the police confirmed that the alarm was fake and the allegedly stolen genital was still intact.

The DPO of E Divisional Police in Makurdi stated that anyone who raised false alarms about genital theft in the state will be prosecuted.

According to reports, family of the young man who raised the false alarm are now asking with authorities not to charge him.

Catherine Anene, the spokesperson for the Benue State Police Command, could not be reached at the time of publication.
