Kano Seizes 82 Tonnes Of Unwholesome Foods, Vows To Penalize Perpetrators

Kano state government has confiscated 82 tonnes of unwholesome food items worth N180M at Dawanau International Commodity market.

The seizure of the adulterated commodities were effected by the Market Taskforce in a sting operations to sanitize the commodity market of sub standard produce.

Wada Sagagi, the State Commissioner for Commerce, and Industry who was at market on Wednesday vowed that the state government would identified and punished the mastermind.

Sagagi said that Government wouldn’t fold its arm and allowed bad eggs rubbish the reputation of the international market.

He revealed that the state Government has since concluded plans to establish Commodity Exchange at the Market to boost commercial activities.

Sagagi stressed that “Government is ready to create enabling environment to grow the market and as well help recover its international repute

In an address, Alhaji Muntaqa Isa, Chairman Dawanau International Grains Market, said that
the intervention of Islamic Development Bank and the State Government had in no small way boost commercial activities.

On his part, the Area Commandant of Federal Produce Inspection, Mr. Anthony Obi, said that they have zero tolerance for adulteration, pointing out that the Agency is all out to enforce standard practice.
