The Labour Party (LP) Caretaker Committee Chair in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Dr. Tobias Obiechina, has criticized former National Chairman of the party, Barr Julius Abure, for disobeying a Supreme Court order and illegally announcing the suspension of Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, Senator Ireti Kingibe of the FCT, and others from the party.
Speaking after a stakeholders meeting recently in Abuja, Obiechina advised Abure to “roll the part of honour” by stopping to deceive himself and others who may be following him ignorantly. “Why would a barrister like Abure continue to disobey an order from the Supreme Court of Nigeria, the highest court in the country?” he questioned.
Obiechina, however, commended several party leaders for their effective leadership, including: Mr Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the party, for selflessly working towards uniting and moving the party forward; Senator Nenadi Esther Usman, the Acting National Chairman of the party for leadership ability; Governor Alex Otti of Abia State, for performing above average in his state and working for the progress of the party and Nigeria in general and; Senator Ireti Kingibe of the FCT, for quality legislation and contribution toward moving the party to the expected level.
Obiechina urged those who have been following Abure ignorantly to stop and come back to the party, emphasizing the need for all hands to be on deck to move the party and Nigeria forward.
The LP leader assured the party’s determination to deliver in each area council in the FCT in the next election and expressed confidence that the party will take over the leadership of the country, giving Nigerians the type of government they have been yearning for.
