PENGASSAN Summit: PTDF Preaches Innovative Skills Acquisition Among Oil Workers

Adetayo Aromotaran, Branch Chairman of Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, PENGASSAN, in the Petroleum Technology Development Fund PTDF on Tuesday, tasked workers in the Oil and Gas Industry to invest in capacity development in order to meet up with the dynamic nature of the industry.

He stated this during the ongoing PENGASSAN Energy and Labour Summit with the theme: ‘Petroleum Downstream Deregulation and Gas Utilization’ for a sustainability energy future in Nigeria’, tagged PEALS 2023, holding in Abuja.

According to him, “one of the key takeaways at the end of the summit, was that the jobs of every staff was not going to be affected by the industry shift; however, industry staff would be required to acquire new skills in other to function seamlessly with the anticipated industry change.

“Today, industry staff are already acquiring new techniques and skills to help us perform and function better as industry experts.

“And in furtherance of that, the PTDF is committed to ensuring that all capacity development required, is attained.

“I am delighted to welcome you to this year’s summit, knowing that it will provide amazing insights and expose industry experts to new opportunities that the industry holds for us.

“I want to use this medium to welcome all participants and as well thank all our esteemed sponsors for being strategic partners in the cause for a better equipped, informed personnel in the Nigerian oil and gas industry.”

PTDF is the agency charged with the responsibility of building and developing capacity in the Oil and Gas industry in Nigeria,

With a renewed insight in also building capacities required for efficient energy mix for a better future in the energy sector.

Aromotaran acknowledged that the PENGASSAN Energy and Labour Summit is a platform that provides the knowledge and information on the present and future position of Nigerian and global oil industry as a whole.

“Providing deep insights on the outlook of the industry, the challenge that confront the industry as well as the future opportunities in such a time as this.

“We are all aware that in the maiden edition, great insights were proffered into the challenges which had engulfed every industry worker and staff alike considering the fear of loss of jobs with the predicted shift in demand of petroleum products due to the expected shift to renewable energy sources.” He stated.
