Police officer Detained for allegedly Defiling 13-year-old Girl In Rivers

The Rivers State Police Command has arrested and detained a senior Police officer for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl in Bori, Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The officer following the incident was detained at the State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department (SCIID), Port Harcourt, pending the conclusion of an investigation launched into the accusations against him, ordered by the state Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu.

It was gathered that the incident allegedly took place at the office of the senior Policeman, in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, where the Policeman was serving.

Narrating what transpired, the victim’s aunt who only gave her name as Love, said the officer lured her 13-year-old niece to his office, where he had carnal knowledge of her all night, adding that he also threatened to kill the little girl if she resisted or raised an alarm.

Love said after the teenage girl who lives with her in same apartment in the area told her what happened, she immediately reported the crime to the Police and the girl was admitted to the hospital where a doctor examined and confirmed that she was defiled.

Love said, “On Friday evening, my girl went out, she returned on Saturday morning around 8am, so I asked her where are you coming from and where did you sleep last night.

“She told me that one Police officer at Bori Area Command, a two star Supol held her in his office and raped her till day break. She said he (the Policeman) threatened her with a gun and said if she shouts that he will shoot her, so she kept quiet.

“I checked her as a mother and observed that someone touched her, so i her took to the police and the police carried her to their own hospital where they examined her and confirmed that she was raped, the doctor also said there were bruises on her vagina.”

Our Correspondent who sighted the Medical examination result conducted on the girl, titled “The Nigeria Police Medical Report” signed by the medical examiner, Dr Adebayo, observed the medical doctor confirming in writing that the victim was assaulted and defiled and her hymen was broken, while physical bruises were noticed around her private part.

In the meantime, a Human Rights Organization, Rainbow Watch And Development Centre which had being following up the case has called for unbiased and thorough investigation into the incident.

Executive Director of the group, Michael Gbarale in a brief statement to Journalists said, “We commend the Commissioner of Police for the arrest of the Police Officer who allegedly defiled a 13 year old girl and the transfer of the case to the

State Criminal Investigation And Intelligence Department (SCIID).

“We demand an unbiased and thorough investigation into the incident with a view to serving Justice to all the parties involved.

“We will closely monitor and follow the case to its logical conclusion.”
